It all started with a painted rock.
We were hiking one sunny afternoon when my daughter spotted a small, brightly painted stone hidden beneath a tree. It had a cheerful face on it and a short message—just enough to make her smile and spark a sense of wonder. She held it in her hand like it was treasure.
"We should leave something too," she said. That one sentence planted the seed for what would become our newest project—Tiny Trail Treasures.
As a family that loves the outdoors and also loves making things with our hands, we decided to create something from wood, something meaningful, simple, and small enough to tuck into a hiking bag. We made a wooden box filled with little circle tokens, each one engraved with an inspirational quote about the mountains—messages of courage, peace, perspective, and wonder.
Now, every time we hit the trails, we bring a few with us. We quietly leave them in the woods—on mossy logs, beside cairns, tucked under leaves—waiting for someone to find them. Maybe it’s a hiker having a hard day. Maybe it’s a child full of curiosity. Maybe it’s you.
