Can I get a custom music box made for my song?
Yes. Our custom-song music boxes use an electronic player, so you can choose a song beyond our wind-up tune selection. We normally convert your chosen song into an instrumental music-box melody without vocals. We can also accommodate original song recordings and personal voice recordings—please tell us which sound you want when ordering.
What is the difference between wind-up and custom-song music boxes?
Our classic wind-up boxes use a mechanical movement, require no batteries, and play a tune selected from our available list of more than 80 songs. Wind them using the key on the bottom; opening the lid does not start the music.
Our custom-song boxes use a rechargeable electronic player underneath the lid. A light sensor starts the music when the lid opens in sufficient ambient light. The music-box sound is played electronically rather than by a custom mechanical movement.
How can I order a personalized music box?
Choose your box and engraving design, select a wood finish, and provide the requested song and personalization details on the product page. For a design you don’t see in our shop, request a custom quote before ordering so we can discuss the design, price, and timing.
How do I send you my chosen song?
Provide the song title and artist, or a YouTube link identifying the version you want, in the listing’s song field. For your own recording or a special audio request, contact us through the website chat or email info@simplycoolgift.com so we can arrange the file transfer.
Can I use a voice recording or someone singing?
Yes. A custom-song box can play a personal recording, such as a spoken message, a loved one singing, or a child’s performance. Tell us that you want the recording preserved as recorded, rather than converted into an instrumental music-box melody.
Where can I hear music samples?
Visit our Listening Station through the website menu to hear examples. Check whether a sample is for a wind-up box or an electronic custom-song box, since they use different types of music players.
How long does the music play?
Our wind-up boxes usually play for approximately 1–2 minutes after winding, repeating a short section of the selected tune. Custom-song boxes usually play approximately two minutes, depending on the prepared audio. Contact us before ordering if you need a particular length or section.
Does a custom-song box need light to play?
Yes. Its light sensor needs sufficient ambient light to start the music when the lid opens. It may not activate in a dark room. Close and reopen the lid in a brighter area to start the music again.
How do I charge my custom-song music box?
The electronic player uses two LIR2032 rechargeable batteries. Current players charge through a USB-C connection; older versions may use micro-USB. A charging cable is not included. Charging does not erase the recorded song.
Can you engrave handwriting, drawings, or a personal message?
Yes. We can personalize boxes with names, dates, messages, handwriting, and drawings. Available engraving areas and included personalization vary by listing. Contact us about a custom design so we can confirm that it fits your chosen box and discuss any additional cost.
What sizes are available, and will the box hold jewelry?
- Small wind-up music boxes: approximately 3 × 2¾ × 1¾ inches. These do not have a storage compartment.
- Large wind-up and custom-song jewelry boxes: approximately 5½ × 3½ × 2½ inches, with space for jewelry or small keepsakes.
- Non-musical ring boxes: approximately 2⅝ × 2³⁄₁₆ × 1⅝ inches.
- Music ring boxes: approximately 3⅛ × 2¾ × 2½ inches.

How much does a custom music box cost?
The price depends on the box style, engraving, and requested customization. Each product page shows its current price and available options. For a design outside the listed choices, request a quote before ordering.
How long does it take to make my order?
Our normal production time is approximately 7 business days, followed by shipping transit time. Custom projects or orders awaiting design approval may take longer. Please respond promptly to any approval requests. If you need a gift by a particular date, contact us before ordering.
What are your U.S. shipping options?
- USPS Ground Advantage: $5 for orders below $100; free for U.S. orders of $100 or more. Estimated transit time: 5–8 business days.
- USPS Priority Mail: $13. Estimated transit time: 3–5 business days.
- USPS Priority Mail Express: $34. Estimated transit time: 1–2 business days.
These transit estimates begin after shipment. Production time is additional. Choosing faster shipping does not automatically shorten production time. Available rates are shown at checkout.
Do you ship internationally?
International shipping options and charges are shown at checkout for supported destinations. Free shipping on orders of $100 or more applies only to U.S. orders. Please review our shipping policy for international delivery details.
